Guess with the pencil, and bear in mind that you can guess as much as three numbers at a time under the right conditions, and it will still be an either or or option. Puzzles rated 8.0 to 8.9 might not technically be rated 'beyond nightmare' by SE (Sudoku Explainer), but its an incredibly challenging level for even really good players.
